Imbolc Sound Journey

In the lead up to our session to celebrate Imbolc through breathwork, movement and sound on Feb 8th, I wanted to share what to expect from the sound journey. I am so excited to facilitate this session at a time when we can harness energy for new beginnings of the coming Spring.

Imbolc is a time when we sow the seeds of what we wish to nurture and harvest in our lives. It honours Winter’s rest as we nourish our bodies, and bring in what we want to cultivate in the coming season of Spring.

To embrace this intention, we will experience a meditative sound journey that bathes us in the transformative sounds of the gong. I will be using a Chau gong and Wind gong, drawing on the earthy, grounding tones of the Chau gong to represent winters rest and planting seeds of intention. This will be combined with intuitive playing of the shimmering wind gong with its rush of overtones, allowing us to open our hearts and bring in the light.

We will also experience the frequencies of quartz crystal singing bowls, ocean drum, rattles and chimes as, mimicking the nature, we sink into deep rest and emerge feeling restored.

There is nothing to do but lie down and let the frequencies wash over you. Everyone has a different experience of sound baths, and there is no right or wrong way to experience it. The gong helps to slow the brainwaves, inducing a dreamlike state and opening us up to simply ‘be’ and vibrate in resonance with the gong.

What we hear through our ears is only part of what is happening in a sound bath. We "hear" sound waves through our skin and entire body. By lying down, closing your eyes and immersing yourself in the sound, you are giving your mind and body the opportunity to rest, restore and cultivate intentions.
